Raptors Baseball Comes Home from Myrtle Beach at 9-9

The MC Raptors baseball team played Illinois Valley Community College on Sunday March 12 in the team's first contest in Myrtle Beach, SC. Freshman pitcher Clayton Dwyer recorded his second win of the season, pitching five innings and only allowing five hits and one earned run. Raptors Darren Prebble, Greg Brown, Naja Garcia each recorded one RBI, while Patrick Burke and Brock Antognoni logged two RBIs each to give their team the 8-2 victory over Illinois Valley Community College.

The Raptors team started off slow on Monday, March 13, dropping their first game of the day to County College of Morris 7-2. Montgomery was able to bounce back later that day with a 3-0 shut out victory against Camden County College. Freshman pitcher Vincent Anninos, a St. John's College High School graduate, earned his first win, pitching a complete game and giving up only five hits with no earned runs and 3 strikeouts.

Montgomery hit a cold spell on Tuesday March 14, falling to Cumberland County College 12-2.

The Raptors thawed out their bats on Wednesday March 15 scoring 10 runs off 12 hits. Brock Antognoni, Will Proctor and Chris Amparo hit doubles to defeat Black Hawk College-Moline 10-5. The big bats of Antognoni, Proctor, Chris Amparo, Naja Garcia, and Cole Wykoff, combined for seven RBIs in the Raptors 10-5 victory over Black Hawk College-Moline.

Wednesday's nightcap posed troublesome for Montgomery as the team struggled to put runners on the bases. Three hits produced only one run as MC fell to Onondaga Community College 5-1.

The final day of the trip, Thursday March 16, ended much like it began with cold tempuratures and a Raptors win. Brock Antognoni, a second year transfer from Harford CC out of Oakdale High School in California, hit his third home run of the season to help the Raptors to a 5-4 victory over Westmoreland College.

After returning from their trip to South Carolina the Raptors dropped a double header on the road to DI Harford CC 7-5, and 10-5. The Montgomery College baseball team is 9-9 overall and 1-2 in the MDJUCO.
