MC Baseball Knocks Off MDJUCO Rival, Nationally-Ranked Frederick CC

On Tuesday, March 7, the MC Raptors baseball team picked up its fifth victory of the season in the team's home opener over DII Frederick CC (FCC) 5-2.

FCC entered the season ranked 15th nationally in the NJCAA Division II preseason poll and the Raptors victory snapped Frederick's six-game winning streak. The Raptors put up three runs in the fifth inning scored by Cole Wykoff, Aaron Brooks and Darren Prebble. Three runs was enough to solidify the victory but the Raptors tacked on two insurance runs in the sixth to give themselves a 5-0 cushion.

Frederick wasn't able to make it around the bases early in the game due in part to Montgomery's starting pitcher, Greg Brown, and sharp defense. FCC's first run came off a solo home run in the seventh inning. Brown earned the win with six innings pitched, allowing only six hits, recording seven strike outs, two walks and one earned run. The Raptors are 1-0 in conference play and 5-4 overall.

The Raptors will travel to Myrtle Beach, SC during Spring Break where they will play seven games in five days. The schedule is listed below.
