Owls Baseball Hits The Road For First Showdown Against Raptors Since 2018 Region XX Championship

Prince George's Community College baseball returns to the diamond tomorrow, April 6th after a 10-day hiatus. The Owls hit the road for a doubleheader at Montgomery College with the first pitch scheduled to go out at 2 pm with game two beginning approximately 20 minutes after the conclusion of game one.

The Montgomery College Raptors will enter Tuesday's contest fresh off an away doubleheader of their own as they face Cecil College on Monday, April 5th. The Raptors, who are currently 4-2 prior to Monday's games at Cecil, will host the Owls (1-1) in their 2021 home opener. The last time the two teams faced each other was during the 2018 season in which the Owls dropped both games of a doubleheader during the regular season, but were able to rally in the Region XX Tournament against the Raptors who were at the time a Division III program. The Owls bested the Raptors 10-0 in the first round of the tournament before setting up an 8-2 victory in the championship round to give the Owls their fifth Region XX title. The 2019 season matchup was postponed and then later cancelled due to weather conditions while the 2020 matchup wasn't scheduled until later in the season which was ultimately cut short due to COVID-19.

The Owls have not played since Saturday, March 27th in their lone outing of the season in which they split a doubleheader against CCBC Dundalk. The Owls won game one of the matchup in a 7-0 rout of the Lions while sophomore pitcher Logan Marx threw a complete game shutout. Prince George's struggled in game two as the Owls committed three errors en route to a 11-8 loss to the Lions. The Owls have had plenty of time to correct their mistakes since the late March contest and will look to get back into the swing of things before hosting the College of Southern Maryland on Thursday, April 8th for the Owls home opener.
