Wolfpack Split With Raptors

Friday afternoon kicked off back to back days of Region 20 baseball play for the Westmoreland County Community College Wolfpack. Friday saw them travel to Montgomery to take on the Raptors for a doubleheader.

Game one saw Montgomery take a 2-0 lead in the first inning before the Wolfpack shut the Raptors down for one run over the next six innings. While Westmoreland scored one and the third, three and the fourth, and five in the sixth to cap off their 9 to 3 win.

The Wolfpack collected seven hits two of them by Brady Stivenson, who also scored two runs and drove in an RBI. Matthew Perez, Logan, Short, Jake Smith, Bobby Etze, and Matt Scarpa also added a hit each. All seven of those players had at least one RBI and Jack McBride also added an RBI.

On the mound, Braden Patton went 5.1 innings, allowing to earn runs on four hits, while striking out six, and earning the win. Jake Smith came in in relief, and went the final 1.2 innings, allowing no hits and no runs while fanning one.

 

Game two saw Smith take the mound again, and go the first 4.1 innings and allowing 4 earn runs in the 7-0 loss to Montgomery. Ty husband went one solid inning, and Brody Byrd went 0.2 innings, allowing two hits and one run.

Offensively Westmoreland was quiet in game two getting five hits. Dyson Murner had two hits, and Matthew Perez, Troy Waugh, and Owen Miller also had one hit in the game. 

With the split with Montgomery, Westmoreland's overall record of 4-14, as they travel to Garrett to play two more Region 20 games on Saturday with a 1 PM start.
